Holliday July/August at the Czech Republic, the first day

We have planned our holiday to the Czech Republic, we had never been there before. First we took our cat to my parants (something he doesn’t like :) We started off in the morning 16th of July with 9966 kilometres on the meter, a fully packed car and a smile on our face! Our first destination was Germany. We stopped at a photo shop to pick up a special lens for the new camera’s. As we turned back to the highway we got caught up in the first traffic jam. This continued in Germany. A lot of people where going on their holiday today. Suddenly we heard a strange noise coming from our car. Off course we just had passed a car park so we continued to the next one with slight panic in our eyes. As we checked the car there was nothing to see, but we did hear the same noise coming from the high way. The sound that we heard was from a new kind of crash barrier. Pfieuwww… So we continued. After another 5 hours driving the tom tom directed us of the highway, this was strange since we where not close to our final destination. We pre booked a hotel in Kelbra (Germany). Maybe a good tip! We used the book ‘links und rechts der autobahn’ (ANWB) a travel book with good European road maps and tips for lovely hotel with a good price near the highway. After 30 minutes driving we where not even getting closer so we start to mistrust the “tom tom”. Matthijs then found out that the “tom tom” was not completely up to date since the road that we had to take was just finished. Matthijs took over and tried to direct us to this new highway, at first we drove 30 minutes the wrong way L but than we finally where heading the right way again. As we drove down into a small road that was going to take us to the hotel we discovered that the road was completely closed down. Ohhh no. Now we had to tray to find another way without a sufficient roadmap and a “tom tom” that kept telling us to turn around. To make matters worst the gasoline meter started going in to the red part and no gas station nearby. We just tried driving to the next exit on the highway in the hope that we would find a new route. Two exits later we got new directions, and as we went down the exit there was a gas station at the end, and the day was saved! It only took us another 10 minutes to get to this lovely German hotel (with the wood and with painted walls) Both tiered we went down for a good meal. Walked around the small town and made our first pictures. This was going to be a wonderful holiday!

greetings jose
